Course Description

Hazardous wastes are defined as those wastes that are flammable, reactive, corrosive, or toxic.  These special wastes pose many risks both to the health of people and to the environment.  They can cause skin damage on contact, and pollute the ground water, surface water, and ground matter as a result of leaching.

This course will prepare participants to identify, sort and store household hazardous wastes that have been brought to the landfill.  It does not cover the transportation of these wastes but will help participants understand the responsibilities of transportation.
